9:00AM-9:45AM | FAA Obstruction Lighting Requirements: Changes That Affect You Now Terry Zarnowski, CTO, Unimar The FAA has made changes to Obstruction Lighting requirements which will affect repair or replacement of those lights. Join this discussion to understand how these changes can affect your compliance to the requirements. Discussion will center around the requirement to provide Infrared at night for pilots using Night Vision Goggles (NVG), Avian (non-flashing), monitoring and reporting lighting requirements. Key questions like, “can I replace my legacy non-Infrared light with the same or do I have to upgrade to IR?”, “do I still have to flash my low intensity L-810 (sidelights) at night?”, “what are the monitoring and Reporting Requirements?”, “what can happen if my tower is found to not be in compliance, are there stiff penalties?” Get the answers to these questions and others to ensure your tower complies and to avoid penalties and fines. |
9:45AM-10:30AM | Modernizing EAS for the Future – Software Defined EAS; A More Resilient Alerting Ecosystem Alan Jurison, Senior Operations Engineer, iHeartMedia EAS Encoding/Decoding is one of the last components in the TV or Radio broadcast chain that have not been absorbed into appliances, software, or transmission processes. Discussions are underway regarding the future of EAS Modernization. In consultation with FEMA, IPAWS and the FCC, new innovative ideas are being proposed that could streamline and strengthen the Emergency Alert System by moving part of the EAS system into software. The proposed design would provide resiliency over the infrastructure that is in place now. This presentation will talk about the legacy system that is in place, and some of the concepts broadcasters and regulators are looking at for the future that are under consideration. |
10:30AM-11:15AM | Hyperconvergence: Technically Sensible, Environmentally Sound Workflows Tedd Tramaloni, Business Development Manager, Ross Video Since at least 2007, we’ve all lived in a hyperconverged world. Our day-to-day gadgets incorporate features and functionality that used to require multiple separate devices, but in the Hyperconverged World, a single, unified machine can perform all those disparate functions and more. For this presentation, Tedd Tramaloni, North American Business Development Manager for Switchers and Severs at Ross Video, will discuss how hyperconvergence has become part of the broadcast industry and the advantages that a “blended” workflow can provide. He’ll also touch on the Ross vision of Hyperconvergence and how its hyperconverged platforms can provide technical and financial returns while reducing a facility’s environmental impact. |
11:15AM-12:00PM | New Developments In 12G Cable Interconnectivity Benjamin Nemser, CEO, Nemal Electronics The presentation focuses on the practical application of 12G cabling in the broadcast environment and includes a discussion of the latest developments in copper, fiber and hybrid 12G/UHD interconnect technology. The key topics are: Evolution of Broadcast Interconnect Technology, System Design, Installation, and Maintenance Considerations-Applicable Industry and Safety Standards, Category 5, 6, and 7 data cables (10BaseT, POE, AV over IP/Dante), Coaxial Cables and Connectors for 12G/UHD, Hybrid Cables for 12G/UHD, New fiber connector options-(FiberFox, MTP), and cable testing. |
12:00PM-1:00PM | Lunch $10 Buffet / Meet with Vendors on Exhibit Floor |
1:00PM-1:45PM | Broadcast Infrastructure 101 Brian Szewczyk, Regional Sales Manager, GatesAir A fresh look at what is required to design and maintain broadcast infrastructures today. The presentation will cover typical scenarios that a broadcast technician will need to be familiarized with in the office, studio, TOC and the Transmitter site. We will also discuss IP characteristics that are now present in broadcast signal chains. |
1:45PM-2:30PM | New Plug and Play Modular FM or TV Transmitter Design Frank Grundstein, Sales Manager, Broadcast Electronics / Elenos Group Quick Block is an innovative technology using Plug and Play modular “blocks”. A new transmitter design from The Elenos Group / Broadcast Electronics. The system can be combined to create radio frequency equipment for broadcast use. With the same modules, programmed and customized as needed, Radio transmitters or TV transmitters of different powers and formats can be created. |
2:30PM-3:15PM | Broadband Pylon Antenna and FM HFSS Studies Christine Zuba, National Sales – Northeast, Dielectric New FCC rule changes now permit directional FM antenna modeling to use computational methods which will allow FM broadcasters to transition from physical modeling to a more efficient, economical and accurate computer simulated modeling procedure. Slotted coaxial antennas have many advantages over traditional broadband panel antennas including much smaller size and wind load, higher reliability and greater degree of azimuth and elevation pattern flexibility. The new technology allows a single broadband pylon antenna to be designed in a free standing, top mount configuration without sacrificing azimuth pattern circularly from the presence of external feedlines or the extra wind load associated with two antennas. Dielectric’s patent pending technology expands pylon technology to 10 channels of bandwidth. |
3:15PM-5:00PM | Meet with Vendors on the Exhibit Floor |
5:00PM-6:00PM | Free Cocktail Reception with Hors d’oeuvres |
