The 2020 SBE Chapter 22 Expo has been cancelled
After much deliberation, the SBE Chapter 22 Officers have decided to cancel the 2020 Broadcast and Technology Expo that was scheduled for September 23rd at Holiday Inn, Liverpool, NY. Under current New York State regulations for Onondaga County, where the Expo was to be held, trade shows are prohibited. New York also has strict guidelines for out-of- state travelers that would require quarantining for two weeks. We don’t foresee these regulations changing by September 23rd so we have no choice but to cancel. We also considered how to keep everyone safe during these times and our best option is to not gather this year.

Our 2021 show is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 29th. SBE National has indicated they would like to hold their National Meetings during our 2021 show. The SBE board members still need to vote on that but verbally they have indicated they want to be at our show. Our website will soon be updated for the 2021 event.

About the Presentation:
The presentation includes video, slides, and live demonstration, and provides an overview of the applications for Fiber Optics in TV and Radio Broadcast. We will discuss the different types of fiber optic cables, connectors, and Media Converters used in broadcast applications, including SMPTE, opticalCON, and Tactical Fiber products. We will also cover installation considerations and maintenance, both for inside plant as well as for mobile broadcast. Next, we will demonstrate cleaning and testing procedures including interferometry and insertion loss, with the opportunity to ask any questions.
About the Presenters:
Nemal Electronics is an active member of SBE as well as NAB, Avixa, and NAMM, and designs and manufactures a wide range of standard and custom AV, RF, and broadcast cables for most of the principal camera manufacturers and broadcast networks throughout the Americas. Nemal’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities are located in Miami, Florida.
Benjamin Nemser founded Nemal Electronics in 1979 and is currently its CEO. Ben graduated from University of Miami (BBA and JD) in 1981, and holds a FCC General Radio Telephone Certificate as well as an Amateur Extra Class License (WA4DZS). He is also a turbine pilot and flight instructor and holds the rank of Major in the Civil Air Patrol.
Daniel Ritts is the VP of Engineering at Nemal and is a leading expert on broadcast fiber optic cables. Danny has more than 30 years of experience in designing, building, and testing SMPTE and opticalCON cabling systems for HDTV camera infrastructure and mobile broadcast.
