Presenter: Perry Priestly from ANYWAVE Communication Technologies
Following our business meeting, Perry Priestly will do a short presentation about ATSC 3.0, then lead us into an open discussion about repack in Central NY. This the opportunity for you to discuss your concerns, timeline, implementation and anything else related to repack. It is an opportunity to learn from each other. Our Presenter is familiar with similar challenges in other markets and will offer insight.
The purpose of the presentation by Perry is to update broadcast engineers with several current developments in ATSC3.0 technology. ATSC 3.0 will add value to broadcasting’s services such as extending reach, adding new business models. It will provide content on all devices, fixed, mobile and handheld. It has the capability to provide higher quality, audio and video such as UHDTV & Immersive Audio. One of the most important issues is the improved accessibility and coverage. It can also offer personalization and interactivity and leverage the power of broadcasting and broadband.
The presentation will cover the effects on the transmitter in terms of efficiency, power consumption. We will discuss what will be required to modify an ATSC transmitter to an ATSC3.0 system, the work needed and some general costs and consequences.
