In Memory of Andy Eggers

Chapter 22 received word that a longtime member has passed away.  Andy Eggers was a Life Member of SBE and attended many Chapter events.  He contributed his wisdom and knowledge to our members whenever he got the opportunity.  Andy attended the Expo last September even as his health was deteriorating and made it a point to talk to as many of us as he could.  He will be missed at our events.

Obituary for Andrew LeRoy Eggers – May 20, 2023

Mr. Eggers was born in Bowerston, Ohio on January 26, 1937 to William Eggers and Dorothy D. Scott, where they resided until Andy was six. At this time Andy and his mother relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up.

In 1955, he left school to join the Navy Air Force and, after basic training, returned to Columbus Air Station where he was assigned to fueling jets and the parachute loft. He left the service in 1959 to pursue a career in the Audio Visual business until the company was sold, at which time he went to work in the carpentry shop for the State of Ohio, Department of Natural Resources.

In 1967 he was approached to join a new film group established at State of New York, College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry, where he remained for 26 years before retiring.

In January of 1997 he was asked to come to the Museum of Science and Technology as a projectionist in the newly installed Omni Theater, where he remained until retirement on January 20, 2022.

Andy is survived by Lois, his wife of 58 years.
