Thanks to Microwave Filter Company

A big thank you to Sandy Nelepovitz and Paul Mears at Microwave Filter Company for hosting our October meeting, and providing dinner. Thank you Jim Peck for arranging this meeting. Sorry you couldn’t make it. Those that attended were impressed with the great facility and the work that Microwave Filter Company is doing. It’s nice to see a successful long time broadcast business in Central New York.

Our November meeting will be on Wednesday the 15th, one week early due to Thanksgiving. David Bender from Copper Development Association will be presenting, “Site Grounding.” We will meet at WSYT, 1000 James St., Syracuse. Note, this is a change in meeting location for November only. Dinner will be provided at 6:00pm. Please RSVP to Tom McNicholl so we can order the appropriate amount of food.

WRCU at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY is looking for a Radio Contract Engineer. See details in our Job Listing section.

We’re still looking for broacast related pictures to use on this website, both in a “pictures” section, and as backgrounds for other pages. Send pictures to Tom McNicholl.

This is your chapter. We need your involvement to keep it going, by attending meetings, taking on a committee and assisting at events. Please consider contributing one to three hours a month to Chapter 22! If interested, call or email me for positions available.

A New Look … A New Season of Meetings

Welcome back for another season of Chapter 22 meetings.  I hope you had an enjoyable summer despite all of the rain.  Nolan Stephany from Albany Chapter 58 is once again arranging the presentations for all of the Upstate NY chapters.  David Bender from Copper Development Association will be presenting, “Site Grounding” and he will be splitting the upstate tour in half, visiting Buffalo and Rochester in October, then Syracuse and Albany in November.  We’re on our own for a presentation in October so Jim Peck arranged for a tour of Microwave Filter Company on October 18th.  I hope everybody can make it out for that meeting and factory tour!  Food will be provided.

Our contract was up for renewal with EasyCGi, host of our website.  Due to unreliability of their hosting service, we’ve decided to make a change to GoDaddy.  With that is a fresh new look to our website.  This is a work in progress and we’re open to ideas/suggestions of what you would like to see.  We could also use broadcast related pictures for backgrounds, so if you have anything you wouldn’t mind sharing, please forward them to me.  There will be a section for member sharing.  If you have something going on at your workplace or anything relevant to broadcasting that you would like to share, pass it along to me and I’ll include it in that section.  Thanks to Cindy McNicholl for getting the new site built and switched to the new host.

At our September meeting, we will discuss bringing back the Expo, probably in a smaller form in the Syracuse area.  This will be to generate some revenue for the chapter and enable us to sustain our chapter and possibly provide scholarships once again.  Please attend this important meeting and share your thoughts about this endeavor.
