- Surge Protection Technologies Used
- Non-Degrading Silicon Avalanche Suppressor Diode (SASD)
- Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV)
- EMI / RFI Filters (Not Surge Protection but Filters are useful)
- Type 1 and Type 2 Locations per Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) 1449 and IEEE Standards

About the Presenter:
Eric Shofner holds a BS and MA Degree from Regent University (Organizational Leadership). Additionally, he has 29 Years Experience as a US Coast Guard Electronic Technician (ET), servicing Medium Frequency (MF), High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Coast Guard Shipboard Communications and Electronic Navigation Systems (X and S Band Surface Search Radars, Depth Sounders, Direction Finders, Radio Beacons, etc.) – 1979 thru 2008.
As a Coast Guard ET, Eric installed, maintained, and repaired Coast Guard electronic systems installed aboard ships, and at Coast Guard Shore Stations (Land-Based). This included servicing and repairing Southern Avionics and Nautel Brand MF Radio Beacon Transmitters, Collins Brand 10kW HF Transmitters, Harris, Collins, & ITTMcKay Brand HF Receivers, etc. Eric also led several ET Support teams aboard Coast Guard Ships and at various Shore-Stations, including at two Coast Guard Communications Stations (Kodiak, AK, and Point Reyes, CA).
Eric presently provides Technical guidance with Customers (both internal and external) about:

- Installation & Grounding Guidance
- Troubleshooting Guidance
- Assist with identifying the right Surge Protection Solutions (& to Cross CompetitorParts to PolyPhaser-Transtector Brand Parts) for the following Applications:
- AC Input Power Protection
- DC Input Power Protection
- Data Protection (Ethernet, Telephone, Alarms & Automation, T1, etc.)
- Radio Frequency (RF) Coaxial Protection
Customers Supported include: Industrial-Automation, Military & Government, Land-Mobile-Radio, TV-Radio Broadcast, Amateur Radio, Oil & Gas, Medical, Transportation, Telecom-Cellular, Residential, Utilities (Electric & Water-Wastewater), and Others.
